Elder Mel A. Pryor is a 4th generation COGIC son, born to Evangelist Ruth C. Pryor and the late Bishop Marvin C. Pryor. He attributes the exemplary life and love of his parents for nurturing, disciplining and providing him a strong spiritual heritage, educational foundation and work ethic to serve the Body of Christ and beyond. His parents taught him that Education + Salvation = Success. He credits the church for providing his early training ground to his professional career. He is a graduate of Michigan State University (“A Loyal Spartan”), earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and the Master of Business Administration (MBA), in Marketing from Saginaw Valley State University. Elder Pryor has served as the Chief Administrator since 1994 and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2011. He has contributed to many facets of the ministry, including developing and directing the Men’s Department for 16 years. Since 1996, he has served as the Jurisdictional Secretary of The Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Southwest Michigan and within the national church, formerly served as a charter member of the Executive Board of the Men’s Department and a Dean of Scholastic Motivation Ministries and other capacities.
Prior to the ministry he was employed by General Motors Corporation as a Marketing & Sales Manager in Philadelphia, PA overseeing staff in Greater Philadelphia, South New Jersey and Northern Delaware. He has completed special assignments in Detroit and Boston. Within the community he worked for several years as an Adjunct Professor, Saginaw Valley State University (College of Business & Management) and Northwood University (Business Division) and served as a consultant to county government, nonprofit agencies, churches and nonprofit board members.
He is a servant who recognizes that his gift of administration is a gift from God to be used only for God’s glory and man’s edification (I Corinthians 12:27-28 AMP). One of his favorite scriptures is Philippians 4:13NKJV, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
